Changing behavior DIGITAL NATIVES CONNECTED 24/7 FAST DIFFUSION MOBILE ACTIVE TIME & SPACE INDEPENDENT SHARING COLLABORATIVE DIGITAL APPEARANCE Sharing: User generated content, everything's becomes social, sharing pyramid, diffusion, viral marketing Collaborative: Sole things differently, Digital natives: grown up with internet and mobile phones, different expectations and attitudes than the older generation (24/7, going to work, sharing etc.) Mobile: Mobility in all aspects: access services everywhere, demand connectivity everywhere, traveling, cultural Different approach to life from the start The "digital natives" are born into digital technology. They have not experienced the world without internet or the mobile phone They are used to the instantaneity of hypertext, downloaded music, phones in their pockets – always on 24/7 They expect connectivity anytime anywhere. They’ve been networked most or all of their lives. A constant connectivity to the net and their tribes. Constant conversations Digital apperance They have little patience for lectures, step-by-step logic, and “tell-test” instruction. Learning Text literacy > Text+image literacy > navigation and mixed media Being told (authority) > discover and experiment Important mental shift; value of connected things, seek info and advice on internet Their attention spans are not short for games, for example, or for anything else that actually interests them. As a result of their experiences Digital Natives crave interactivity—an immediate response to their each and every action. It isn’t that Digital Natives can’t pay attention, it’s that they choose not to.

opportunities NETWORKED SCHOOL NETWORKED HEALTHCARE NETWORKED UTILITIES Let me give you some examples of what is happening already now. The cloud brings down the cost for starting up new businesses. It costs less to test an idea in the cloud than it did in a closed IT environment, and if your cloud is connected and secure, you will see results more quickly. This will make it possible for more people to try their ideas and drive innovation around the world. This also applies to the operators that can try new ideas, introduce new services and onboard new customers at much lower cost using cloud. As a user, you get better services. Spotify is a good example. You can either buy a CD for 10 euros and have that, or you can spend 10 euros and have access to the world’s library of music online for 30 days. Real-time applications that are social, mobile, and built in the cloud will provide new, fresh approaches to today’s needs and cater to innovation across all sectors of society.
