1 Jude Lesson 3

2 “Those delivered out of Egypt”
God brought, saved and delivered Israel out of Egypt Ex. 12 They did not believe in Him, so He destroyed them in the wilderness Their children, those 20 years old and younger, would enter including Joshua and Caleb. So the oldest people entering the land would be 60! Can you imagine wandering for 40 years until you are 60 and THEN entering the promised land?

3 Jude 3-4 Children of Israel were an illustration of the condemnation of the unbelievers who were among the true believers Acts 7:39 says they were unwilling to be obedient They tested God, grumbled and were idolaters and immoral I Cor. 10:1 Don’t be unaware I Cor. 10:12 Take heed…..lest YOU fall

4 Acts 7:36 Moses performed signs: IN the land of Egypt – plagues
IN the sea – parting the Red Sea and they walked across on DRY LAND IN the wilderness for 40 years – manna, water, serpents/snakes, meat, etc. If there is a life of licentiousness/sensuality and denial of Jesus as Master, then there is NO true salvation. Only destruction awaits.

5 Angels in Jude Did not keep their own domain/stay within their own position of authority vs. 6 Abandoned their proper abode/left their proper dwelling vs. 6 Indulged in immorality vs. 7 Went after strange flesh/pursued unnatural desire vs. 7 Kept in eternal bonds/chains, under darkness for the judgment of great day vs. 6

6 Angels Angels are an example of judgment for sin – assuming a place where one does not belong and taking license there: disobedience, rebellion, “My will. NOT Yours” 2 Pet. 2:4 Not spared judgment, cast into hell and committed to pits of darkness 1 Pet. 3:19 Spirits in prison I Pet. 3:20 Disobedient to God in the days of Noah

7 Sodom and Gomorrah BEFORE their judgment: Gen. 13:10 They were watered everywhere and compared to the Garden of Eden Gen. 18 & 19 Went after strange flesh: sin of homosexuality Committed immorality Left the natural for the unnatural Rejected authority Picture of the final judgment for the ungodly God’s fire completely destroyed them

8 “Unnatural” Lev. 18:22 God said homosexuality is an abomination
Lev. 20:13 God said it is a detestable act The men of Sodom even tried to rape angels in men’s bodies whom the Lord sent to destroy them!!! (authority from God) The angels in Jude were compared to the men of Sodom and Gomorrah Jude 1:6-7 All the more reason to contend for the faith

9 Jude 1:8 “Yet in the same way these men” In the same way or manner as:
The children of Israel vs. 5 The angels vs. 6 Sodom and Gomorrah vs. 7 What do they do? Defile the flesh vs. 8 Reject authority vs. 8 Revile angelic majesties vs. 8

10 “Defiled the flesh” “Rejected authority”
Who defiled the flesh? The angels vs. 6 Sodom and Gomorrah vs. 7 This is what licentiousness/sensuality leads to Who rejected authority? Israel rejected God’s authority The angels Men of Sodom and Gomorrah The one who denies Jesus as Master and Lord

11 Who are dangerous to the beloved, kept and called?
2 Pet. 2:7 Peter says the sensual conduct of unprincipled men oppresses the righteous 2 Pet. 2:10 The ungodly indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires How is that dangerous to the B,K, C’s? 2 Pet. 2:1 They secretly introduce destructive heresies into the church (unnoticed) 2 Pet. 2:2 Many will follow and the truth will be maligned 2 Pet. 2:3 Believers will be exploited 2 Pet. 2:8 Their righteous soul will be tormented by the deeds of the ungodly

12 Jude 1:8 Application “These men defile the flesh by dreaming/rely on their dreams” New Living: “Claim authority FROM their dreams”……Ever hear about that???? Warning: do not rely on dreams which COULD lead to defilement. ONLY rely on the Word of God which does not change, (immutable), it is sharper than any two edged sword and it rightly divides TRUTH from error.
