90% of hospitalized patients are in need of an IV catheter for fluid delivery
Although there are dual lumen peripheral catheters available on the market, they are rarely used

Size and Specialists
Complexity
IV teams and surgeons
Time
Therefore, single port catheters are used and patients in need of fluids and blood draws must be pricked each time blood is taken

3. Our Goal
To develop a cost-efficient, user friendly device that will allow for simultaneous fluid delivery/draws
However, must stop fluids and flush lines to prevent contamination/clotting
Will not be used in ER or ICU patients
Stopping IV and flushing will prolong delivery of fluids such as those used for resuscitation
Will target patients experiencing minor complications or undergoing minor procedures
