Good News Travels Fast-
Especially in the age of Social Networks
Proverbs 25:25 “As cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a far country.”
Proverbs 15:31 “The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.”

7. “Gospel” Means “Good News”
What does it Say?
We can be “Saved,” but “from what?”
Matthew 1:21 “Jesus…He will save His people from their sins.”
We can “be forgiven,” but “I’m not that bad a person!”
1 John 1:8 “IF we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

8. “Good News” Is Not Always “Right News”
False Prophets Agreed with the Wishes of their Hearers-
Would make them feel good, temporarily
Telling people what they WANT to hear does no lasting good
2 Timothy 3:1; 4:2-4 “heap up for themselves teachers…turn away from the truth”

9. “Good News” Is Not Always “Right News”
False Prophets Appealed to the Pride of the Populace-
Proverbs 28:23
They promised them pleasant things
Required no reformation of character
Told them no APPARENT DANGER!
2 Peter 3:4 “all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation”

11. Sometimes “Good News” Is “Bad News”
How can you Prepare for Something if you Don’t Know?
How many More People could have been Saved on the Titanic?
Shipbuilders: “Life boats too cumbersome and unnecessary.”
I would like to hear the ship I’m on cannot sink…
But what if it DOES?

12. Sometimes “Bad News” is “ Good News”
The wages of sin is death! – Romans 6:23 – Good to know I can do something about this!
Matthew 7:26 – foolish man does not do what Jesus says to do
Matthew 18:15 –Only reason we tell anyone their faults is to help them – “you have gained your brother”

13. Craving For Peace Can Be Satisfied
Through Patience-
Anything of any value takes Time, Patience, and sometimes, Suffering
Revelation 2:10 “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Through Repentance-
2 Peter 3:9,15 “not willing that any should perish”
Romans 2:4 “goodness of God leads to repentance”

14. Craving For Peace Can Be Satisfied
Through Renewal-
Romans 12:2 “renewing of your mind”
1 Peter 1:13-16 “not conforming to former lusts…Be holy, for I am holy.”
Through Obedience-
Matthew 7:21-23 “do the will of the Father in heaven”
Luke 8:21 “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
