3. SERVICE-LEARNING DEFINED
The Community College National Center for Community Engagement Defines Service-Learning as:
“A teaching method which combines community service with academic instruction as it focuses on critical, reflective thinking and civic responsibility. Service-Learning programs involve students in organized community service that addresses local needs, while developing their academic skills, sense of civic responsibility and commitment to the community.”

Communication: The ability to develop and effectively express in written and oral form ideas that are appropriate to audience and purpose.

Personal Growth & Cultural Literacy The ability to understand and manage self, to function effectively in social and professional environments and to make reasoned judgments based on an understanding of the diversity of the world community.
