ISS – IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION

ALC – ALTERNATIVE LEARNING CENTER
Removal for behavioral problems, attendance issues &
academic concerns.

Used in lieu of OSS; parents are invited to
attend school to monitor their child’s behavior
and school work.

7. DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES
LEVEL I MINOR INFRACTIONS
Usually addressed by the teacher.
Consistent violation results in referral
and administrative involvement.
Behavior includes: noncompliance,
disrespect, inappropriate language.
LEVEL I MAJOR INFRACTIONS
Sometimes addressed by the teacher. Usually handled
by administration. Behavior includes: tobacco use
or possession, refusal to comply, dress code, gambling.

8. LEVEL II
Addressed by administration. Behavior includes: disruption, theft, property damage, sexual harassment, threats, bullying.
Level II Fighting and Physical Aggression
Physical aggression/ Fighting- choking, hitting, slapping, shoving, scratching, spitting, biting, blocking the passage of, throwing objects at another person in an aggressive or confrontational manner.
Taking any action or making comments or writing messages that are reasonably expected to result in a fight or physical aggression.
All physical fights usually result in a five-day suspension; multiple fights in a year result in a long-term suspension.

9. LEVEL III
Controlled substances, chemicals & drug paraphernalia. Possession, use, under the influence, distribution, selling.
Assault Involving a weapon
Bomb threat
Acts of terror
Assault on a student: No student shall cause or attempt to cause serious physical injury to another student- i.e. broken bones, chipped teeth, scarring, significant bleeding, injuries resulting in medical treatment.

The Counseling and Student Services Department of Wakefield High School will provide a comprehensive developmental counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.  
School counselors, as part of the WHS learning community, will advocate for all students so that they have equity and access to the tools which enable them to become responsible and productive citizens.  
Counselors will advocate for the success of every student so that they can effectively manage future challenges and can progress confidently into an ever-changing society.
