1 Timothy 6: (ESV) 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, 14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

Luke 17: (ESV) 20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”

In But Not Of John 18:37-38 Jesus is the King
Jesus is the King in the Kingdom of God! Jesus did not look like a King. Never the less, He was a King. What is true of the King is no less true of His Kingdom! Charles Haddon Spurgeon. “Jesus, the King of Truth.” Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit. Vol

It is a Spiritual Kingdom
In But Not Of John 18:37-38 It is a Spiritual Kingdom Jesus says His Kingdom is “not of this world.” That means His Kingdom is not of the same concerns as an earthly monarch. Not geographical Not about taxes or money Not about pomp and ceremony Not of prestige or privilege Not of any acclaim

It is a Spiritual Kingdom
In But Not Of John 18:37-38 It is a Spiritual Kingdom So, where does this Kingdom come from if “not of this world”? If Jesus’ Kingship is not of this earthly world, then it has to be from heaven or hell. There is a spiritual kingdom of hell which Jesus speaks about in Mark 3:23-26.

Mark 3: (ESV) 23 And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.

This is a kingdom founded on pride, hate, jealousy, anger, deceit, and cunning. Mark 3:22 brings this into focus.

Mark 3:22 (ESV) 22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”

It is a Spiritual Kingdom
In But Not Of John 18:37-38 It is a Spiritual Kingdom Jesus’ Kingdom cannot be the kingdom of hell because it is not consistent with His character. Therefore, Jesus’ Kingdom must be from heaven, and He must be the Son of God! This was the only conclusion to which Pilate could come. Some would celebrate because they do not have to be part of this Kingdom. Heaven trumps Earth!

Spiritual and Earthly Kingdoms Intersect
In But Not Of John 18:37-38 Spiritual and Earthly Kingdoms Intersect The spiritual is still ruling over earthly! It is true that the earthly has its own sphere and so does the spiritual. Church and state are not totally separate. There is an intersection of these two entities and heaven rules – John 19:10-11.
12
John 19: (ESV) 10 So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?” 11 Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.”

This is the difference between “of” and “in.”

It Only Has a Spiritual Entrance
In But Not Of John 18:37-38 It Only Has a Spiritual Entrance Jesus’ final point about His Kingdom is that it does not have a secular entrance, but only a spiritual entrance. The spiritual and earthly kingdoms overlap and a person should be in both for a time. We are to respond humbly – Matt. 5:3.
