Over the next three years, the specialty distribution channel will continue to transform, with four notable trends immediately impacting current SD operations and business development: Specialty pharmacies respond to and pursue direct biopharmaceutical company contracts, purposefully eliminating product flow through SDs. Payers and biopharmaceutical companies narrow their networks, consolidating specialty product dispensing volume to fewer SPs and potentially increasing those SPs' buying power with their SDs.
