Building Resources for the Website -Working Groups-
2
Session Goals Develop new pages for the website to help us and others address several different issues in the context of two-year college geoscience. Extract examples of activities we already do in these areas and what outcomes we see from them.

Products and Outcomes Main Products: Other Outcomes
Examples from your own experience that can strengthen the pages on the site and provide “ground truth.” Additional materials or references to add to existing pages on the site. Outlines of new pages on topics not currently covered on the site. Other Outcomes Increased familiarity with resources available via the SAGE website and other projects connected through SERC Everyone has the opportunity to contribute to and learn from the discussions around these 6 topics.

First Step – Individual Reflection
Before starting to discuss in your group: Spend the first 5-10 minutes reflecting on the practices you have used to address the issue and writing about the experience. Use the Discussion Thread at the bottom of your group page to record your reflection. This could include: a single experience that was particularly effective; a set of activities that you tried but didn't work and why you think that is; and anything in between. Use these questions to guide your writing: What have you tried? Why? How did it work? How do you know? When everyone is done writing, spend 5 minutes reading all the reflections. Then…

Second Step – Group Discussion
Begin your discussion. Some thoughts: Is everyone familiar with the existing resources? If not, spend a few minutes looking at the landscape. The discussion questions are ideas that we think would be useful to address in the webpages that result from this activity, but they aren’t the only possibilities. The facilitator from the leadership team is there to help the group decide quickly on a course to pursue and start down the path.

Feedback Round Start here:
Online teaching - DiLeonardo, House, Voorhees, West Science identity - James, Miller, Tvelia Metacognition - Bradford, Hilt, Johnson, Resnick Diversity and equity - Berquist, Leinbach, Woodall Transfer - Braley, Hardisty, LeMay, Mrofka Regional community - Benford, Layou, Nagy-Shadman, Puris Use the discussion thread to give feedback, provide additional resources, and write about your own experiences with the topic. (What did you do? Why? How’d it go? How do you know?)

Next Steps Think about what the group has accomplished, what you are working towards, and how to get there from where you are. Then spell out some next steps that are needed to take what you have developed to a more complete state. What is currently missing that needs to be included? Do you know where those missing pieces can be found? This is your chance to help guide future development work on this topic.
