Prayer God Bless Our Children!
We pray for God's protection, as our children come to school. Help them to remember the virtues of Sancta Maria. May they understand, that the Mary values are symbols Of God's blessings. We ask for positive direction. Guide them as they grow. When they face temptation, give them power to say, "No!" Give us strength, as parents and teachers, to guide them through their learning journey this year. Amen.

Year 3 & 4 Students in year 3 and 4 are now working at level 2 of the curriculum. Students are taught to their needs. There is a big jump and we will work on extending their skills and knowledge and deepening understandings of concepts across the curriculum.

In literacy you will notice the progression through reading levels slows down - this is because the texts become longer and the ideas much more complex - so students are not only expected to be able to decode or read the words but also have quite an indepth understanding of the text. Can be quite challenging if the text is out of their realm of experience. - students are developing their vocabulary and knowledge of how words work, deepening their comprehension of what they are reading and learning new strategies to do so.

Home Learning Support Our Webpage Home Learning Books Reading
Read the front letter of home learning books - it is used to support your child’s learning at home. It’s like a communication book for you to find out what’s happening in class. You might find things like poems, spelling words, published work, discussion questions, tasks - ideas to help guide the learning process at home. Daily reading - range of materials. Reading books - as we set up our reading programme your child will be reading regularly with a teacher and doing learning around the book. The books will be sent home to reinforce the learning happening in class. You can read them at home (it is not expected to read the same book everyday), or any other books with your child - They are allowed to take their school library books home this year and can return and get new books out at lunch time. Your children are developing the ability to maintain the ideas in a story over a longer section of text - so reading more sophisticated picture books or short novels will encourage this.
