Chapter Training Webinar: Submitting nominations for Model Chapter and Spring Awards Tuesday, January 23, 2018 1:00 pm EST Susan Emert – Manager, Member and Chapter Services

2 Agenda Model Chapter AFCEA International Spring Awards
2018 Goals 2017 Final Achievement Ingles Submission AFCEA International Spring Awards Individual and Chapter awards Other awards Awards Cycle Nomination Process Awards Committee Award Ceremonies

3 Model Chapter Award

4 Model Chapter Award Its purpose is to encourage strong overall chapter structure and meaningful activities It measures a chapter’s performance over a full calendar year Two-part two-year program Goals and Final Achievement Entirely voluntary but strongly recommended Submitted only via the chapter officer tools on the AFCEA portal On-line only - no paper copies or s accepted.

5 Model Chapter Award Deadlines
Model Chapter Goals for 2018 February 1, 2018 Model Chapter Final Achievement for 2017 February 15, 2018

6 Model Chapter Goals Establish Goals
Reasonably attainable but require concerted effort Minimum of six goals required Must include at least one goal in each of the Individual Membership, Corporate Membership and Website categories As of last year, mandatory goal to increase membership by a minimum of one person

7 Submitting Goals Log into chapter officer tools on the portal
Click on Chapter Officer Tools Click on Model Chapter Goals Click on Create 2018 Goals

8 Model Chapter Goals Type in your chapter position
Option to choose “Select from Sample Goals”

9 Model Chapter Goals If you Select Sample Goals this will pop up on your screen. Note that this screen shot doesn’t include all the categories available – Awards and Other are the other available categories.

10 Model Chapter Goals If not using Sample Goals
Click on Goal Category dropdown menu (highlighted) type in Goals manually (red arrow) If you prefer to write your own goals from scratch, first of all click on Goal Category, and choose a category from the drop-down menu provided. For those Goals that do not fall into one of the pre-determined categories, please choose Other.

11 Model Chapter Goals Keep adding Goals until finished
Save progress – keep editing Once finalized & forwarded, cannot be edited Keep adding Goals until you have entered at least six total, with at least one each in Individual Membership, Corporate Membership and Website. You will see on the screenshot that the system automatically ads the Mandatory Goal of “Increase individual membership by at least one person”. You can use a mix of sample goals and your own goals written from scratch. Use the Save Progress button and only hit the Finalize and Forward to RVP button when you are definitely finished. Our system does not allow for Goals to be edited once forwarded to the RVP.

12 Model Chapter Final Achievement
One year later you will complete the Final Achievement against the submitted Goals The same year as you complete the Goals for the following year Self-assessment by chapter Justification submitted against each goal Can save progress and return to complete at a later date Once finalized, has to be submitted to RVP Final Achievements submitted to RVP for endorsement are final and cannot be edited So, you entered your Goals and forwarded them to the RVP who approved them. Now fast forward to a year later. You will complete the Final Achievement for the previous year at the same time as you submit Goals for the coming year. For the Final Achievement, the chapter self-assesses whether they have exceeded, met, partially met, or not met each individual goal, and then submits a justification against each Goal.

13 Model Chapter Final Achievement
These next screenshots detail how to submit the Final Achievement against the Goals submitted the previous year. As a reminder, once you have clicked on Model Chapter Goals in the chapter officer tools, you will see this screen. This time, click on Create 2017 Final Achievement form. If your chapter did not submit Goals for the previous year, you are not eligible for that year’s award, and will not see the View/Print Goals or Final Achievement Form buttons on your screen.

14 Model Chapter Final Achievement
This screenshot shows the top of the Final Achievement submission page. For each Goal, choose your self-assessment field and complete the justification.

15 Model Chapter Final Achievement
Complete Chapter Performance Summary Use Save Progress button freely Only hit Submit when absolutely final This screenshot shows the bottom of the Final Achievement submission page. Once you have evaluated all your Goals for 2017, there is a performance summary text box at the end of the Final Achievement. We strongly recommend that you complete the Chapter Performance Summary at the end; it may be particularly important if you have not met all of your Goals! Again, as with entering Goals, use the Save Progress button freely. However, do not hit Submit Chapter Goal 2017 Final Achievement until you are sure you will have no more changes. You cannot edit the Final Achievement once submitted to the RVP!

16 Model Chapter Award Approval Process
RVP approval needed for both Goals and Final Achievement Once submitted to RVP for endorsement they are deemed final and cannot be edited RVP receives an to endorse Once Final Achievement is endorsed, chapter is eligible to receive the Model Chapter Award AFCEA HQ will notify winning chapters by Not all Goals have to be exceeded or met in order to win the award Chapter is evaluated on entire Final Achievement including summary – be sure to complete this! This slide summarizes the approval process for both the Goals and Final Achievement. One last reminder (I promise) that both Goals and Final Achievements submitted to the RVP are final and cannot be edited! Use the Save Progress button while still editing your Goals/Final Achievements!
