3
P The Scientific Method Purpose or Problem: Write a question that asks
what you want to learn from the investigation.
4
R The Scientific Method Research: What do you already know
about the topic? Investigate to find out more about the topic.
5
H The Scientific Method Hypothesis: Write a sentence that predicts
what your investigation will prove. Remember to include the words if and then.
6
P The Scientific Method Procedure: How will you test the hypothesis?
Plan and carry out the investigation. Include materials, variables, step-by-step directions, and recording the data.
7
A The Scientific Method Analysis: Study the results of your
experiment. Decide what the data means. This information can then be used to help you draw a conclusion about what you learned in your investigation.
8
C The Scientific Method Conclusion: Write a summary of the
experiment (what actually happened). It should include the purpose, a brief description of the procedure, and whether or not the hypothesis was supported by the data.
