Pronouns that end in –self or –selves are either reflexive or intensive pronouns. Myself Ourselves Yourself Yourselves Herself, himself, itself Themselves

3 Reflexive Pronoun A reflexive pronoun refers to the subject and directs the action of the verb back to the subject. Example: The winners considered themselves lucky. The winners considered lucky. Tip: If you drop the reflexive pronoun, you change the meaning of the sentence. reflects

4 Intensive Pronouns An intensive pronoun emphasizes the noun or pronoun in the same sentence. Tip: When you drop the intensive pronoun, the sentence still makes sense. (Ex: The players designed their uniforms.) Example: The players themselves designed their uniforms. emphasizes
