Introduction

2 Task 1 Find a partner Install the following apps:
Simple Color Picker (by Kouichi INAFUKU) on iphone Open Colors (by Open Circle Solutions BV) on Android Ask your partner to look away Pick the colour of your jacket/coat from the color picker Jot down the RGB numbers (use the SAVE button) Refresh the color picker Ask your partner to pick the same colour on the same phone. Compare the two sets of RGB numbers

3 Task 2 Choose a random RGB colour (e.g. 123,45,67) on one phone
Find a partner Install the following apps: Colour Picker—RGB & HEX (by Tapdeck) on iphone Picklr – Color Picker (by Livio Colleluori) on Android Choose a random RGB colour (e.g. 123,45,67) on one phone Set the same RGB colour on the other phone Compare the colours on the two phones Adjust the colour on one phone to match the other as close as possible. Note the RGB numbers.

4 Task 3 Play the game Install the following apps:
Color Picker game (by Fufla SIA) on iphone Color Picker game(by Peter Lauris) on Android Play the game

5 What the three tasks tell us?
It is difficult to know/measure/remember a colour with our eyes. Task 2: The same colour setting can appear differently on different devices. Task 3: Our ability to distinguish colours is limited and varies among individuals.

6 Can you do these? You are having a holiday in Seoul and your mother has asked you to buy a lipstick of exactly the same colour as the one she always uses. She only sent you a (digital) picture of her lipstick. You are creating an online catalogue of colourful T-shirts for an online store. You have all the T-shirts with you and you need to show them in their correct colours on the web site. You are printing hard copies of a certificate of a certain qualification on a brand new printer. You need to make sure that the new copies look exactly the same in colour as the previous ones.
