Intermediate Unit 1's Optimizing Student Learning Package offers a variety of services designed to enhance student learning in reading, math, and science in your school.
Package includes free data analysis sessions with administrative teams when coupled with professional development and instructional coaching.

5. What is an instructional coach and how do I support him/her??
According to Jim Knight’s Kansas Coaching Project
“Instructional coaches are onsite professional developers who teach educators how to use evidence-based teaching practices and to support them in learning and applying these practices in a variety of educational settings.”
Instructional Coaches are non-evaluative!!
PDE supports instructional coaching through PIIC, the Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching
Breanne Scears is our PIIC Instructional Coach Liaison who provides professional development to any district or IU instructional coach
PIIC also provides for free a 4-credit graduate level course through PLN (the Penn Literacy Network) through the University of Pennsylvania
IU1 can provide instructional coaches in the tested subject areas of reading, math, and science at a rate of $400 per day for a minimum of 10 days.
