3 Depression The common cold of psychological disorders.
It is like a warning that something is wrong.

5 Major Depressive Disorder
A person, for no apparent reason, experiences two or more weeks of depressive moods. Includes feelings of worthlessness and diminished interest or pleasure in most activities.

6 SYMPTOMS Markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all or almost all activities. A change of 5% in body weight(gain or loss) in a month without dieting. Insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day Feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt nearly every day.

7 Dysthymic Disorder Suffering from mild depression every day for at least two years. Must not have gone more than two months without experiencing symptoms

8 Bipolar Disorder Person alternates between the hopelessness and lethargy of depression and the overexcited state of mania.

9 Bipolar disorder Bipolar cycling can either be slow or rapid.
Individuals that rapid cycle can go back and forth between a manic and a depressed episode several times in a week. Most people with bipolar experience slow cycling. The first recognized symptoms is usually a manic episode.

12 Cyclothymic Low grade bipolar Individuals have numerous periods of hypomanic symptoms and numerous periods of depressive symptoms for at least 2 years. Person must not be without symptoms for a 2 month period of time.

Related to the changes of season Happens about the same time every year Symptoms include: irritability Problems getting along with other people Weight gain Oversleeping Hypersensitivity to rejection
