Opposition to Stamp Act:
Patrick Henry in Virginia – resolution stating Virginia House of Burgesses only had the power to enforce these types of taxes
Samuel Adams in Massachusetts – started Sons of Liberty (protesters)
Boycotting used
Parliament repealed Stamp act in 1766
Townshend Act 1767 (tax on glass/tea/paper paid before customers bought)
Boycotting/protesters started again
Daughters of Liberty formed
