RELATIVE VELOCITY Relative Velocity – the relative velocity of object “a” to object “c” is the vector sum of object “a’s” velocity relative to object “b” and object “b’s” velocity relative to object c. va/b + vb/c = va/c Do Example Problem 3 p. 158 a2 + b2 = R2 And need Angle tan θ = Ay / Ax = R tan θ = .75 / 4 = R tan θ = .1875 = R INV Tan 4.07 m/s = R θ = 10.62°
