2D S/W Demo Tip Length Measurement of Insight Images
Insight NAVI can be useful in many cases, but many say it is especially valuable in Endodontic treatment. It is useful to check root numbers, but especially it can be helpful for filing because each root can be measured through Insight NAVI. First, let’s take a look at how measure the length in Insight images! [1] Find and capture the slides which each root is clearly visible. [2] Click [Capture All Popup] button. [3] Each image is saved in thumbnail. [4] Measure the length of the captured images. [Multi Length] is utilized. Because the captured images are also Dicom, actual length can be measured. It would be better to preselect a layout as ‘Favorite’ to compare captured images!

2D S/W Demo Tip WLD relevant information (1) So, why is the length of the root canal measured? Endodontic treatment is a sophisticated and delicate treatment, so you need to be careful when removing root canals. But to remove them completely, you must measure them properly first. Complete removing of pulp is also very important to prevent inflammation from recurring! In addition, choosing a proper file requires accurate length measurement, and when the filling material is larger or smaller than The length of the root canal, treatment cannot be completed properly. The anatomical space within the root of a tooth which consists of the pulp chamber, the main canals, and more intricate anatomical branches is called root canal. And WLD(Working Length Determination) indicates measurement of a root canal. If you zoom in on the space at the end of the root, you can see it is not completely closed and there is a hole called the apical foramen. Inside of the apical foramen, there are apical constrictions which are the most narrow part of the root canal. Apical constriction is about 0.5~1mm inside from the anatomical apex. To remove infected pulp, treat infected root canal and make filling well, it must be measured from the head of the tooth to apical constriction accurately. [2] Radiographic Working Length [3] Electronic apex locator
2D S/W Demo Tip WLD relevant information (2) There are different ways to measure the length of the root canal. Tactile sensation, Radiographic working length, Electronic apex locator. [1] Tactile Sensation [2] Radiographic Working Length [3] Electronic apex locator Tactile sensation, although useful in experienced hands, has many limitations. The anatomical variations in apical constriction location, size, tooth type and age make working length assessment unreliable. It is a little shaky to rely on the sense of fingers, usually taking an X-ray image and check; to confirm how far the device reaches. It is more reliable than relying on the sense of finger. An electronic apex locator is an electronic device used in endodontics determine the position of the apical constriction and thus determine the length of the root canal space. The apex of the root has a specific resistance to electrical current, and this is measured using a pair of electrodes typically hooked into the lip and attached to an endodontic file. 24 25
