11 Math – period two The content for Accelerated Math consists of both 6th and 7th grade (Pre-Algebra) skills/concepts. Students will complete a pre-test at the beginning of each chapter. Each concept should take one day, but we can add more if needed. If a student tests out of a chapter, they will go to the resource room to work with the enrichment teacher on a project. You will be notified if your child tested out of a chapter because they will come home with a learning contract that needs to be signed and returned. If students test out of a chapter, they will be exempt from all homework, except maintenance sheets, and their grade will consist of their pre-test score and their project score. Gina

Textbooks – each student has access to the textbook in Schoology Grades will be determined based on assessments, projects, labs, and homework Patti

13 Test Out Process for Science Units
Independent study is available for most units for every student who can show mastery on the pre-test (90%)   Independent learners who master science concepts easily and/or enjoys a challenge Independent projects completed in the gifted room Misbehavior or lack of effort can lead to being removed Students will still participate in labs and certain activities with class Additional information on Schoology in course headquarters folder Patti

Check your student’s Schoology account Check grades on E-schools – linked through Parent Portal Checking teacher’s Schoology pages – linked through dasd/Marsh Creek page If you are missing a password, contact the main office. If absent for at least 3 days, contact the guidance office for missing work Gina

Instill a positive attitude towards personal and academic growth Have a set area in your house to complete homework Hold your student accountable for himself/herself Encourage student independence but remain actively involved Prepare the night before school, i.e. study, packing up, etc. Chris
