Crystal Peat Background
Operated as a Peat Moss operation in the 1940’s and donated to the Town in September 2013 by the Roncari Family. Crystal Peat comprises 30.5 Acres of wooded open space between Cook Road and Amanda Way, and is managed by the Conservation Commission. The Tolland Conservation Corp, along with other cooperating volunteer groups, ‘steward’ over 1000 acres of Open Space in Tolland that is managed by the Commission

Property Stewardship Challenges
Beyond the three Storms of the Century in as many years, the Conservation Corp has been increasingly faced with clean up of graffiti that otherwise detracts from the ‘natural experience’ of our Open Spaces Treating ‘challenges’ as ‘opportunities’, the removal of graffiti has afforded us opportunity to broaden our community out-reach

The Conservation Commission would like to commission a mural in keeping with the history of this unique property Candidate Designs would need to be approved by the Town Council Material Costs would be paid for by the Conservation Commission The Winner(s) would get to sign their work and their accomplishment to their portfolio
