1 Agenda: 1) “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” 2) Poem Modeling 3) Response To Literature 4) Work On Packet Thursday, November 9, 2017

2 Turn and Talk You will have 5 minutes to turn and talk with a partner.
Discuss with them what you think what the themes are, about the characters, events, and symbols.

3 Word Splash- Activator
In your sourcebook, write down all of the words that you discuss.

4 In your sourcebook… Add an entry for “Reader’s Response”
We will listen to “Ordinary World” as we read the lyrics. Think about how this song applies to your novel. Write one paragraph (5-7 sentences) discussing the connection and any thoughts you may have about it. Choose three lines that stick out to you. How do these lines connect to your novel?

5 “Ordinary World”- Duran Duran
Passion or coincidence Once prompted you to say "Pride will tear us both apart" Well now pride's gone out the window Cross the rooftops Run away Left me in the vacuum of my heart What is happening to me? Crazy, some'd say Where is my friend when I need you most? Gone away But I won't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Came in from a rainy Thursday On the avenue Thought I heard you talking softly I turned on the lights, the TV And the radio Still I can't escape the ghost of you What has happened to it all? Crazy, some are saying Where is the life that I recognize? Gone away But I won't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive

6 Papers in the roadside Tell of suffering and greed Here today, forgot tomorrow Ooh, here besides the news Of holy war and holy need Ours is just a little sorrowed talk And I don't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Every one Is my world, I will learn to survive Any one Is my world, I will learn to survive Any one Is my world Every one Is my world

7 “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” - Dylan thomas
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” - Dylan thomas
