Geological comic book story

STEP 1: PICK A GEOLOGICAL PROCESS
Chemical Weathering Carbonation Hydration oxidation Mechanical Weathering ice (be sure to show expansion) water, wind, gravity (be sure to show abrasion) plants (be sure to show expansion) Plate Tectonics Convergent plate boundary Divergent plate boundary Transform plate boundary
4
Step 2: choose a real life picture
Ideas: Mammoth Cave Grand Canyon Mount Everest

STEP 3: USE THE ROUGH DRAFT STORYBOARD TO BRAINSTORM FOR YOUR COMIC (pictures and descriptions) Box 1 A prism is a word often used to describe objects that separate the colors of white light. The viewer sees a rainbow of colors. At Yellowstone National Park, there is a spring that is multicolored and was named the Grand Prismatic Spring in 1871.

Step 4: Begin telling your story box 2
Millions of years ago, Shady the tree lived on land that was covered with grass. He was quite happy to see the sun shining on most days and the animals feed on the land around him. Little did he know that the land was beginning to change drastically.
7
Step 5: describe the geological processes that formed your real life picture box 3 - ? (this may take a different amount of pictures for all of you) Shady noticed that the world around him began to change. Certain areas to his right were becoming warmer and he noticed some of the trees and plants began to die. The animals didn’t drink from the nearby stream like they used to.
8
Describe the geological processes
Everything in the immediate area around shady began to die and he began to feel hot and dry and didn’t enjoy his life the way that he used to. And he started noticing some steaming water appear in the middle of the area to his right.
9
Describe the geological processes
Shady the tree wasn’t able to last much longer in these conditions as everything got hotter and hotter and hotter. Earth plates beneath him that had moved slowly for a long time, had finally moved over an area where the core of the Earth was extremely hot. Shady went to tree heaven where he was able to watch over the processes happening on Earth.
10
Describe the geological processes
Shady watched from above as the land changed into an area with springs that began to change colors as bacteria flourished in the high temperatures and the vegetation was all gone. Lots of people began to visit the area that Shady had once called home.
11
Conclusion Even though Shady’s life was over, that was not the end of the story of the area where Shady lived. After million and millions of years, the plates continued to move and the hot spot beneath Yellowstone moved on to another place on the Earth.
