Mrs. Southwick Quarter 1 Independent Learning Activities Instructions: Complete all activities before the end of the quarter. Each activity needs to use up a minimum of ½ of a page.

#1 Draw a 3d bucket and fill it up creatively with at least 10 things you want to do before you graduate and get too old to be cool! You MUST have at least some sort of a drawing with each of the 10 things.

This exercise will make you better at composing paintings.
#3 Here you see two simple objects. Using your own paper, redraw them just as they are. You may even trace if you’d like. Now draw other objects to LINK the two objects already on the page, in a pleasing composition. #4 Look at this picture then fill in what you imagine the latestTweets would be!!

#5 Draw a cube, cone, sphere, and pyramid. Now shade your objects, choosing a light source and blending smoothly. Don’t forget to give your objects a cast shadow.

#7 Make a dream- like collage using magazine images in one color.
Ex: a collage of just blue things. Using just one color in various tints, tones, and shades is called a monochromatic color scheme.

#8 Pull this image up on your computer or electronic device so that you may see it in full color. What do you think this painting is about. Write a paragraph telling the “story” of the painting. Finally, if you had to give this painting a new title, what would it be and why? Edvard Munch, Separation

Design your OWN SUPERHERO!
#9 Your drawing must be in color and should take up an entire page. Include your action hero’s name, his/her superpowers or supertalents. Your superhero must be original. Do not turn in Superman, Catwoman, Batman, Spiderman, “Japanimation” or any other copies! Invent your own please. Capes/tights optional!

#10 Select one or more common kitchen utensils. Draw them complete with shading/value, trying to make it look as realistic as possible. Spend some quality time on this!

Once ALL of them are complete, put them in a folder OR staple in the corner and turn in to the hand-in basket. Let me know if you have questions or concerns! Good luck and HAVE FUN WITH IT!
