Geography Peninsula on the eastern side of Asia North-eastern hemisphere 38,691 sq. miles 70% mountains and hills Borders the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan Hot and wet in summer cold and dry in winter. Seasonal winds called monsoons affect weather throughout the year. The east coast is less cold in winter

South Korean History Developed in 2333 B.C. Divided into 3 kingdoms Was under rule of China and Japan 1392 Choson Dynasty (Yi Dynasty) Rulers: Rhee, Park, and Choi (Chun) Korean War from 1950-1953 North and South Korea

Population In the year 1960 South Korea had a population of 25.07 million people The population increased in 2010 to 49.41 50 % of the population are women and 50% of men About 70% are from the age of 15-64 About 18% are from the age of 0-14 and 10% are 65 and up

Religion Freedom of religion 25% Buddhists, 20% Protestants, 10% Roman Catholics most South Koreans participate in at least some Confucian practices philosophy based on the ideas of the Chinese philosopher Confucius Many people consider Confucianism a religion

Education Schooling as a child Collage Uniforms High school, Non- interactive class Specialty schools- Vocation schools- Education expected to be taken seriously- Subjects like ours, BUT they all learn English
