In Melbourne the coldest weather that has been recorded was – 2.8 degrees. The coldest weather ever recorded was on the 4 th of July 1901. Melbourne has not recorded the temperature below – 2.8 degrees since that day.

In Victoria the weather does get lower than - 2.8 degrees but the mountains here can get much colder.

The hottest weather ever recorded in Melbourne was 46.4 degrees. This happened on Saturday the seventh of February 2009. On Black Saturday as the mercury reached 46.6 just before 5pm.

Black Saturday info Black Saturday was on the 7 th of February 2009. they counted at least 400 different fires at the same time!! There was 173 people that died and 414 were injured. These are some of the places where the fires happened: Beechworth, Bendigo, Redesdale and the Dandenong Ranges.
