Why Hearing Health? Our Goal
Over 50 million suffer from some degree of hearing loss 77% of those who need a hearing device, cannot afford one Electronic lifestyle = more hearing loss Educate on how to protect our hearing Support SLP, AuD, and hard of hearing students Advocate for accessibility in public venues Support other organizations in the industry Create awareness Why hearing health you ask? Because there are over 50 million people in the United States who suffer from some kind of hearing loss. It’s estimated that 77% of those who need a hearing device, cannot afford one. How about the children who need speech therapy services, but their parents cannot afford it? Or those who may not enjoy attending a performance at a local theatre with their family because they are unable to understand what is being said. Those who suffer with a hearing loss need advocates for accessibility in public venues. They need access to reduced price services and devices. What about those who do not have a hearing loss? They need education on how to protect their hearing. Our goal is to understand those who have lost their hearing and the issues they face on a daily basis and ensure these individuals get the assistance they need to live a full, quality life.

Questions If you have any questions today, please ask! If you come up with any questions later, please contact me at ____________. By taking this presentation to a club meeting and being the primary speaker for the event, this is your opportunity to get the full attention of the members. Prior to starting your presentation, consider playing a game of Heads & Tails to grab the attention of the audience, increase the energy in the room, and have fun! Club presentations will be the main way you will communicate with the members, but not the only way. You may also be asked to make presentations at DLCs or Fall District Conferences and to help with your Region meeting, send personal notes and newsletters – there are many different ways to keep our Annual Fund and programs on the mind of Sertomans.
