If more than 20% of your students are not responding to your Tier 1 instruction, you should study your Universal Screener data and decide:
What does this mean for my whole class instruction?
What does this mean for the pacing guide?
What does this mean for flexible groups?
What does this mean for differentiation?
Use ClasStat to answer these questions
Will also need to triangulate data
Provide time for participants to start discussing: Think - Pair – Share to process questions
Focus on what’s in our control, including our own practice – what we can do
What does this mean for my whole class instruction (tier 1)?
What does this mean for the pacing guide?
(You can’t slow down your instruction because of student gaps, rather teachers need to increase time for the delivery of the curriculum with DIFFERENTIATION. This might mean less time spent in other academic areas. Reading block might need to be 120 minutes).
