5 Title I Private Non-Public School Process
Identify students who qualify for Title I services: 1. Criteria for funding is based on: Parent income survey TANF, Medicaid, etc. Criteria for service is based on: Students failing math or reading, or At-risk of failing math or reading Residency 2. Referral forms are available and a referral may be made by a Parent Teacher 11/14/2018

6 Title I Private Non-Public School Process
Students are ranked using a process that will be provided to the schools in August The qualifying students are ranked by educational need Those students in greatest need must be served first 11/14/2018

7 Title I Services in Private Non-Public Schools
Services for Title I students are provided by the Cooperative through Region 20 in reading and math One year planning is required prior to the implementation of services Scientifically-based research must be utilized when planning the program Assessments for student progress are monitored Strategies must be used to increase parent involvement Annual evaluation of program effectiveness 11/14/2018

8 Allowable Title I Program and Services Expenditures
Title I funds are expended to implement academic research based programs that help students improve their academic achievement in the regular private school classrooms in reading and mathematics. Examples of Title I program expenditures for Title I students can include the following: Books, materials, and equipment necessary to implement the Title I program (which must be properly tagged): Extended-day services; Summer programs; Saturday programs; Tutoring; Computers and software products; and Space designated for Title I services 11/14/2018

9 Allowable Title I Program and Services Expenditures
The services and materials purchased by federal funds are for the benefit of participating private school students and teachers and must be secular, neutral, and non-ideological The control of the funds and the title to any equipment and materials purchased with these funds must remain with the LEA 11/14/2018

11 Title I Program Participation Requirements
Participation requirements include 4 Consultations per year. The following topics must be discussed during the ongoing consultation process: Data sources to be used to identify children’s needs; Services to be offered; How, where, and by whom services will be provided; How services will be academically assessed and how results will be used to improve services; 11/14/2018

12 Title I Program Participation Requirements
Consultation topics continued: The size and scope of the equitable services to be provided to the eligible private school children, and the proportion of funds that is allocated for such services; The method or sources of data used to determine the number of children from low-income families in participating school attendance areas who attend private schools; The delivery of services to private school children; 11/14/2018

Consultation topics continued: The needs of private school teachers who teach Title I students and the professional development program that will be designed to meet their needs; The needs of families of Title I children and the family involvement program that will be designed to meet their needs; and Complaint process 11/14/2018

14 Title I Program Participation Requirements
Participation in Title I committee meetings with the committee made up of a public school representative and private school members including school administrators, teachers, and a parent representative. Quarterly meetings are held to discuss: program coordination, service and implementation, student progress and student achievement, CNA and CIP development based on student needs 11/14/2018

Each school shall conduct activities, as appropriate, to ensure: effective involvement of parents support of a partnership with parents and community improvement of student academic achievement 11/14/2018

17 End-of-Year Title I Survey for Private School Teachers
Purpose of the Teacher Survey is to determine the types of Title I programs that will be provided next Year. School principal will collect the completed forms Kish Russell and the principal will review the surveys pal All surveys will be forwarded to Federal Programs 11/14/2018

18 Non-Public School Annual Program Evaluation
The schools will complete an annual evaluation for Title I, Part A and Title II, Part A and will use the findings to modify, discontinue, or maintain the program Kish Russell will be available for support The evaluations must be submitted to Kish Russell in Federal Programs by May 18 11/14/2018

20 Learning Opportunities for Title II, Part A
Professional Learning The Professional Learning Statement (PLS) must be completed and approved prior to registration The PLS paperwork must be submitted to Federal Programs one week prior to the start of any session Use the revised PLS form dated February 2012 11/14/2018

21 Title II, Part A: Professional Learning
The school must conduct a needs assessment focusing on the professional development needs of staff Schools must select from the approved vendors Professional learning opportunities are also available for teachers who serve Migrant and Bilingual students Professional development activities using Title funds cannot include religious content 11/14/2018

22 Notice of Intent to Participate
The Notice of Intent to Participate needs to be signed and returned by May 18, 2012 to Kish Russell in Federal Programs Send via to or Fax to 11/14/2018

24 Private Non-Public School Calendars
The principals will provide Federal Programs with a school calendar so that Consultation and meeting dates can be scheduled SAISD will submit a draft calendar to the schools at the August meeting for their review 11/14/2018
