2. Definition.
The Appeal to Ridicule is a fallacy in which ridicule or mockery is substituted for evidence in an "argument
Presents the opponents argument as absurd, ridiculous and even humorous.
Called the appeal to mockery or the horse laugh.

3. Pop-Culture Example
The Dover AFB Scandal was where 274 U.S. Soldiers were dumped in a land fill.
This picture is used to ridicule the government for letting the situation happen.

Act 1
Parris: "Man! don't a minister deserve a house to live in?"
Proctor: "To live in, yes. But to ask ownership is like you shall own the meeting house itself; the last meeting I were at you spoke so long on deeds and mortgages I thought it were an auction."

Proctor: There might also be a dragon with five legs in my house but no one has ever seen it
Proctor is mocking Parris for saying such a thing about his wife and practically changing the subject.
