(Matt. 21) Intro: Prophesied (Is. 62:11; Zech. 9:9) Fulfilled (Mt. 21:1-11) I. JESUS CLEANSED THE TEMPLE (21:12-17) A. Perverted The Purpose Of The Temple (21:13). 1. Proper purpose: House of prayer (Is. 56:7)! 2. Wrong purpose: Merchandise (Jn 2:13-17). Robbery (Matt. 21:13). 3. Sacrifices were part of worship, but was buying & selling part of the worship? 4. Could we argue that buying & selling in the temple was okay, just correct the attitude (greed)? 5. Bottom line, what did Jesus say?

(Matt. 21) I. JESUS CLEANSED THE TEMPLE (21:12-17) B. Pervert The Purpose Of The Church (Eph. 2:21; Acts 5:4). 1. Pillar & support of truth (1Tim.3:15; Gal.1:6-7). 2. Lord’s Supper is part of worship, but is is a common meal (1 Cor.11:17-34)? 3. Joy is part of worship, but is entertainment (Phil. 3:3)? 4. Could we argue that common meals & entertainment in the church are okay, just keep a proper attitude (1 Cor.11:34)? 5. Bottom line, what did Jesus say (Lk. 16:10)?

THE KING COMES TO ZION II. REBUKE & WARNINGS TO JUDAH (Matt. 21)
A. Indignation against Christ (21:15): 1. In spite of proof of His authority (21:14). B. “By What Authority” (21:23). 1. Jesus tested their integrity (21:24-27). 2. Parable of the two sons (21:28-32). a. About willingness to obey (Pr.1:20-33)! 3. Parable of wicked husbandmen (21:33-46). a. Rejection of Christ (21:38-39, 42; Pr.12:1). b. Results in their rejection (21:41-44). c. Understood he spoke of them (21:45).

Are We Ready To Meet The King (2 Th. 1:8-12)?
THE KING COMES TO ZION (Matt. 21) CONCLUSION: A. Would Jesus cleanse the temple today? B. How willing are we to submit to Christ? C. Do we care if we are rejected by Christ? “The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?” (Matt. 21:42) “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” (Matt. 21:44) Are We Ready To Meet The King (2 Th. 1:8-12)?
