6 SBCC PROMISE The initiative is called the SBCC Promise and to qualify for two years of free enrollment fees and books, a student must: Complete secondary education within the SBCC District (Gaviota to Carpinteria) Complete the Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver Application. The BOGW waives enrollment fees for qualifying students who are California residents or students who qualify for the AB-540 Nonresident Tuition Exemption. In order to qualify for the SBCC Promise, students must apply for the BOGW, however students are not required to meet the BOGW eligibility criteria. Enroll to SBCC within 12 months of completion of their secondary education, or if entering military service directly out of high school, they must enroll within 12 months of completion of their service Commit to a full time student schedule throughout the duration of the College Promise for at least each Fall & Spring semester (summer session is encouraged, but no minimum load requirement) Complete a Student Education Plan (SEP) Agree to participate in academic counseling (one session per semester) Remain in good academic standing at SBCC

14 SBCC Academic Counseling Department
What We Do: Teach students how to understand the requirements needed to earn a certificate, degree and/or transfer requirements to a college or university. Help students create a timeline and roadmap of courses to take for their degree and/or transfer requirements. Review and assess academic work from other colleges, AP scores, IB courses and apply them toward the degree and/or transfer requirements. As a local high school graduate you have the opportunity to be assigned an Academic Counselor to assist you with reaching your educational goals at SBCC! Academic/College Programs/ Majors that are Career Driven: Provides training/education needed to get a job right after graduation Classes focus on specific program and up to date skills Taught by instructors who have real world experience Certificate, Degree or Transfer Options SBCC Offers over 50 different CTE Programs! 17 EOPS Extended Opportunities Programs & Services
Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to join: Be a California resident/AB540 Enroll as a full-time student (12 units or more) Have fewer than 70 units of degree applicable college credits Qualify to receive a Board of Governor's Fee Waiver (BOGW) Be educationally disadvantaged as determined by EOPS staff           Confirm eligibility by stopping by the EOPS office during office hours to meet with a Student Program Advisors

20 ESP -EXPRESS to SUCCESS Program
Opportunity to move through required math and English classes more quickly Participation in a Learning Community (LC) environment. 

21 iPath The iPATH Program offers UC & CSU transferable courses that fulfill lower division general education curriculum for transfer. There are also tutors in the classrooms, academic counseling, smaller class sizes, and campus field trips to transfer institutions!

22 Transfer Academy Transfer Center guides you through the process and courses needed to qualify for guaranteed transfer to one of various universities by the most efficient and effective means possible. Over 1100 transfers to UC’s and CSU’S
