1. A sustainable YouthBuild program has diverse, enduring partnerships that offer a broad range of sources of support. Internal partnerships External partnerships Partnering with other YouthBuild programs

2. A sustainable YouthBuild program remains true to its mission and constantly tries to find new ways to better carry out that mission. Everyone must have clarity on the mission How does the YouthBuild mission meld into organizational mission? Does everyone from the top down buy into the YouthBuild mission? Are you still doing things the same way you did 5 years ago?

3. A sustainable YouthBuild program is visible in its community
Who knows us? Are we sitting at all of the “right” tables? Do we have regular press exposure? Are we engaged in social media? What are the barriers to any/all of these?

4. A sustainable YouthBuild program allows itself to be helped by others.
Who are your champions? Who are your key allies? Who are your competitors? Whose help do you need that you do not currently have engaged? How do you engage them?

5. A sustainable YouthBuild program can grow in size and quality to meet the needs of its community and supporters. How do you survive while still looking to grow? What are the gaps in your community? What do you do well? What are you challenged by? Where are you willing to compromise?

1. Goals, timelines and execution.
What are your goals – within next three-six months? Within next six–eighteen months? How much time will be set aside for planning? Who is leading the charge? Who needs to be involved in decisions? Who is responsible for each step of execution and follow through?

2. Articulation of assets, outcomes and needs with desire to assess and improve.
What are your assets? Strengths? Needs? Challenges? What are your outcomes? Goals? Barriers? Steps to overcome barriers? Use your FPO, TA coach, YouthBuild USA staff, each other Ask for help Identify what you need to assess so you can use the right tool
