Teaching & Giving Back The Teach Texas Team trains lawyers & judges to present two 50-minute lesson plans available on the Taming Texas website to accompany the book and HBA web pages. The teacher introduces the lawyer and judge and remains with them. “Career Day” + Texas civics & history.

Nearly 14,000 Houston Students Taught
This pilot-project tests different approaches to teaching civics to Houston area students. Nearly 10,000 students taught in 2016. Another 3,576 students taught in 2017. HBA staff conducted surveys of volunteers and teachers in May 2016 and May 2017. SBOT Award, Annual Meeting, June 2016. TSCHS team fine-tuned new PowerPoints in 2016 & created new ones in late 2017. A positive experience for 98.11% of volunteers.
