Islamic Art Islamic Art begins with and centers around God ("Allah" in Arabic). Islamic art developed a unique character, utilizing a number of primary forms: geometric, arabesque, floral, and calligraphic, which are often interwoven

Islamic Art Arabic is the language of Islam. It is the language of its prophet, Muhammad; the language of the Holy Qur'an, Islam's sacred scripture, was revealed to him by God.

East meets West In Islamic cultures the so-called decorative arts provide the primary means of artistic expression, in contrast to Western art, in which painting and sculpture are preeminent.

The Rise of Islam Islam means “surrender” or “submission” to Allah or God. Allah’s greatest creation is mankind. All mosque require a feature called qibla, a wall that indicated the direction of Mecca. Calligraphy is also an important characteristic in Islamic culture.
