What is a Virtual Private Network
VPN is a Private Internal Network It allows you to log into either your own VPN or your company’s VPN The VPN is encrypted and secured in order to only Allow users with authorised access. Data should not be able to be intercepted

Wireless Wi-Fi - IEEE 802.11 (Wireless Fidelity)
WiFi was introduced in 1980 IEEE is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Bluetooth is also wireless using Wireless Personal Area Networks

Mobile phone connection
Mobile phones connect via one of the following methods 2G, 3G, 4G Wi-Fi Bluetooth It essentially has its own modem chipset installed in the phone.

What are routers A Router allows you to connect to your modem that in turns allows you access to the internet Your terminal talks to your router, and your Router talks to your modem by essentially Telling it where to send the information, Your modem then carries out the instruction

What are modems There are two types of Modems. A cable modem and a DSL modem The purpose of your Modem is to communicate with your Internet service provider’s network. Cable modem, it plugs into your cable provider’s infrastructure via a coaxial cable. DSL modem, it plugs into your telephone line. You can now get modems and routers all in one. Can you name any?

Broadband Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is broadband internet delivered over copper phone wires. The lines are split into two frequencies: one for data and one for voice. Two way communication

Takes at least 30 mins to download one single music track!

Download speeds You pay for the amount of GB from your provider each month. Therefore, usually presenting a limit. You could go over and receive a higher bill!! A full length film can use up to 2GB Many broadband packages are virtually unlimited. This means that, within reason, you can download as much data as you want. But not so clear cut with mobile phones.

What is a local area network
Local Area Network (LAN) are computers in close proximity that are linked together to run off the same Network This would include printers too

List out and put in your own words all the different types of connecting to the internet. Include images and explain what each peripheral/component can do. Research and choose one internet connecting method and create a step by step guide on how to connect to the internet using that chosen method.
