Solving Division Equations

Warm Up y = 60 x = 9 j = 38 m = 24 k + 5 = 20 j=15

Solving Division Equations

You use the multiplication property of equality to multiply both sides by 8 in order to get the “x” by itself. X = 56 To check to see if your answer is correct, substitute 56 in place of the x in your equation. Solve the equation. If it is true then the value for x is correct.

You use the multiplication property of equality to multiply both sides by 6 in order to get the “x” by itself. x = 90 To check to see if your answer is correct, substitute the x in your equation with the 90. Solve the equation. If it is true then the value for x is correct.

x = 475 x = 40 x = 864 x = 68

Closure Write the equation and find the solution.
Kim split candy evenly among 5 friends. Each friend got 23 pieces. How much did she have before she gave the candy away?
