3. What’s Required to Graduate?
There are 4 requirements to receive a Secondary School Diploma
You need a total of 54 credits
20 of these credits must come from secondary 5
You must pass:
Secondary 4 Math
Secondary 4 Science
Secondary 4 History
Art (drama, Art, Dance or Music)
You must pass Secondary 5 English, French and Phys. Ed or Ethics***
To get into Secondary 5 English and French, you must pass Secondary 4 English and French
That’s a lot of sec 4 classes!

4. Secondary 4 Importance
Secondary 4 is vital to get a Secondary School Diploma
Secondary School Diplomas are required to get into CEGEP
While DEP programs (Vocational Training) do not require Secondary School Diplomas, they are considered an asset in these programs
Jobs and employers may ask to see your high school transcript (even part time jobs)

5. “I have no clue what I want to do when I graduate, it’s so far away….”
The end of your high school career is getting closer. You may not know what you want to do, but maybe next year you’ll have a better idea
Career aptitude tests can help get yourself thinking about things you may like/enjoy

Can I take these classes if I fail some sec 4 classes?
It depends. The priority is to re-do the sec 4 classes you are missing. This might mean you cannot take the optional classes you would like

The school year has just begun – stay on top of your schoolwork
Use your agenda for important dates (tests, assignments, projects)
