Grace Fellowship Church
Pastor/Teacher Jim Rickard Title Page Below are some simple instructions on how to use this template: 1. You can change the text in the graphical screen above or in the outline area to the left. 2. There is one default background that is indicated by “ ” .This slide acts as a space or a blank screen, use to clear or blank the screen. If you have a large graphic such as a map you could also use this screen. If you insert a new slide you will get this default background. 3. The first five slides have the other backgrounds for the set. To use more than one of these background types in your presentation highlight the one you wish to use and choose copy from the edit menu. Paste this slide where you want it to appear in your presentation, then change the text on this new slide. By copy/pasting the slide in this manor you will keep the background, text formatting and the customized animation from that slide. By using the copy/paste method you find it saves you time and keeps a consistent look through out your presentation. 4.There are a few additional notes written in the slide text wording that may be helpful. Note: We are working on a website that in the future will provide help topics on using sermon outlines in PowerPoint as well as provide sermon templates similar to this one. Check for more information. Thursday, September 27, 2012

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3 Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your Heart, Pt. 2
4
I. Introduction:
5
This is a common theme throughout scripture, Psa 33:21; 62:8 and is akin to “love the Lord with all your”, Deut 6:5; 10:12; 13:3; 30:6; Mat 22:37; Mark 12:30, etc.;
6
… or search the Lord with all your heart, Deut 4:29, or obey Him with all your heart, Deut 30:2, 10; Joshua 22:5.
7
“Trust” BATACH, “To trust or place confidence in
“Trust” BATACH, “To trust or place confidence in. To rely on out of a sense of security, usually in the face of danger.” The object of our trust is the Lord, YHVH.
8
It has the sense of “to have a bold confidence in the Lord to the point of being carefree because you know that God is in control and caring for you.”
9
This is the kind of faith or trust that a little child has in his parents. Mat 18:3, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted (change) and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
10
We struggle at times to totally trust in Him and our faith wanes for several reasons; discouragement, doubt, dismay, disillusionment, and a defeated spirit.
11
Then we tend to trust in something else such as ourselves, other people, institutions, money, power, etc.
12
Lack of faith causes you to miss out on God’s demonstration of His power and provision for you, and experiences that build your faith and give you opportunity to witness to others.
13
Israel’s fear cost them forty years of wandering in the wilderness and the death of hundreds of thousands of men. Num 13:33; 14:1ff
14
There will be times when you do not understand what is going on or what to do. That is when it is vital to trust with all your heart in the One who does know what is going on and what to do.
15
II. Hindrances to Total (100%) Trust or Faith in the Lord.
16
A. Dread or Fear. Num 13:32-14:4 Fear leads to wanting to return to some form of prior, false security.
17
Sometimes fear plays a role in people turning to God, especially when all else is shown to fail. Prov 1:7, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”
18
We have to learn how to deal with our fear
We have to learn how to deal with our fear. Are you going to trust in yourself, people, institutions, etc., or are you going to turn to the Lord with all your heart
19
Be focused on God and His ability to conquer your problems and it will overcome your fear. Num 14:4-10
20
Let your fears cause you to get closer to the Lord and not drive you away from Him. 2 Tim 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and love and discipline.”
21
B. Delay or Hesitancy Ex 4:1, “Then Moses said, ‘What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you’.’”
