Creative Presentation:
Membean You have 8 days until it’s due. You are required to do 9 days in September. Deadline: September 21 Quiz: September 22 Creative Presentation: Objective Design a creative way to present your Hero’s Journey narrative to your classmates. Specifics: Presenting through a Gallery Tour on Tuesday– your project will need to make sense all by itself! Has to be viewable in about 2 minutes (or less). Has to fit in your own desk space (no posters, etc). No available technology at school. If you want to use it, you’ll need to bring it (and have it available Tuesday to present). Friday and Monday are work days. Bring anything you’ll need.

“A MAN” pg. 64 Read the poem on page Complete questions #1 and #2. Complete the chart on page 66. Use your notes from yesterday and the hints written in your book’s chart and below. Title BEFORE you read, make a prediction about the poem based on the title Paraphrase 3 bullet summary: beginning, middle, end Connotation Mark POSITIVE and NEGATIVE words/phrases. Any figurative language?? (something that doesn’t literally mean what it says…) What PATTERN do you notice in the poem (+/-)? Attitude How does the speaker SOUND when he talks about this topic? (Make sure you think about the WHOLE poem) Shift Answer TWO questions: 1. Where does it change? 2. FROM what TO what? Why did the author choose THIS title over any other title? Theme This should be a statement that applies to ALL people. Try starting with “We…” or “People…”

Final drafts due tomorrow:
At the beginning of class One copy is color-coded and/or labeled: Blue: imagery Find TWO sections (a few sentences or a whole paragraph) that have 5-7 examples of imagery. Underline the 5-7 descriptive words/phrases in blue. Label the sections in blue: Imagery #1 and Imagery #2 Orange: dialogue Circle your BEST example of dialogue (only 1!) in orange. In the margin, write a brief explanation of its specific purpose (revealing character traits, moving the plot forward, prompting a character’s decision, etc….). Green: Hero’s Journey In the margin, write the NUMBER of the step in green. Remember you should have 4a, 4b, and 4c to show all the parts of your Road of Trials Pink: Membean Underline 3 Membean words in pink. In the margin, write the quick definition in pink. Purple: Thoughtful Conclusion Circle your conclusion in purple. Below it, write a brief explanation to answer these questions: (1) how does it fit your story?, (2) how does it provide closure for your hero?, and (3) what’s the theme of your story?
