Step3. Confirm device – server connection Open the client app
Confirm device – server connection : value will appear
( Device Management > Devices > Last Reported , Last Seen )
Once a device is connected to server, conventional software update will be disabled in Setting menu. Make sure the device is deleted from the server, and the app is deleted from device after your trial is terminated.

With dummy firmware, tester can repeat updates and the last update should follow scenario 2 so that device remains at original version after E-FOTA trial

* What is dummy firmware? For every Samsung official firmware released, a corresponding dummy firmware exists for testing purposes. If there is no dummy firmware, devices with the latest firmware must wait for a new firmware to release in order to further test the E-FOTA update functions.

Device Management > Devices
Device Import File is a CSV or TXT file containing action and device information.
You can use the file to add(register), edit, or delete multiple devices simultaneously.
For Device Import File, go to next page
Click ‘Browse’ to select the device import file, then click ‘Import’

Use your MDM/ Knox Configure Dynamic to push APK or send download URL to devices How to install the client app may vary according to your circumstances such as MDM implementation (This is also written in the Approval Form)

(2) JSON file needs encryption/decryption by using a java tool
Download app. configuration file (swmb2b.json) on PC It should be encrypted before it is put into phone folder /sdcard/.swm
A java tool (cryptool.jar) is provided for its encryption/decryption. The key is fixed value, client and cryptool keep the same key, so client can decrypt and read the file content, which is encrypted by cryptool, or reverse operation.

19. Appendix 5 : FAQ for E-FOTA Advanced
Q. Some devices are failed to update by campaign.
A. OS update will happen when following conditions are satisfied. Otherwise, the update will remain pending.
① Stable network (Cellular or Wi-Fi)
② battery power level must be 30% or higher
③ Available storage should be sufficiently large (minimum 500M or more, depending on the volume of MR)
Q. Does E-FOTA service usually incur data charge?
A. When downloading firmware via E-FOTA server, it may incur data charge. Downloading firmware over Wi-Fi network is recommended to avoid unnecessary mobile data consumption.
Q. What if a device is powered off during the campaign period?
A. If the device power is off, polling from the client app will not reach the server then the update will not happen. The update will remain pending until power is back on and the device receives update command by polling, as long as it's within the active campaign period.
Q. How does E-FOTA Advanced prevent devices from receiving conventional over-the-air software update?
A. Once E-FOTA Advanced client app is installed, the device will not receive conventional software update notification and the software update menu on Setting will be disabled. This can be restored once the device is deleted and then disconnected from E-FOTA server.
