1 FOCUS, PLANNING AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Hello and introduction of self and the session, Ask about retreat and what to expect from the session Give history of Dr. Henry Cloud, EMERGING LEADERS 2017

2 SESSION OBJECTIVES Understanding the importance of ending things well.
Identify what types of things in our lives that may have to end in order to move forward. Begin to set the standard by which we are willing to be accountable to. Explain I got five on it.

3 NECESSARY ENDINGS WHY DO WE AVOID ENDINGS? WE ARE AFRAID
WE FEEL IT'S FIXABLE FEAR OF CONFRONTATION IT’S PAINFUL Explain how this book effected my life Necessary Endings by Dr. Henry Cloud

4 WHAT'S THE IMPORTANCE OF ENDINGS
Are a part of life – Stages, Seasons, and phases. For there to be anything new, Old things always have to end. Getting to the next level always requires ending something, leaving it behind and moving on. Some endings are not a natural step, but are necessary because something has gone wrong. SOME THINGS MUST DIE, AND SOMETHINGS NEED TO BE KILLED. What is the difference between natural death and being killed? Name some things that have to die? Stinking thinking Name somethings that have to be killed? Toxic relationships

5 QUESTION Take a moment to reflect on these reasons.
How many situations can you think of where these reasons and or others have interfered with an ending that you needed to make. How did it or does it effect you?

6 NECESSARY ENDINGS When we fail to end things well,
We are destined to repeat the mistakes that keep us from moving on. Because we did not change directions, We find ourselves back in a familiar situation again.

7 THE CONCEPT OF PRUNING Is a tool to help with decision making for:
Focus Planning Accountability In order to begin pruning you need to establish a standard of measurement.

8 THE PRUNING MOMENT Is that moment of enlightenment when we become responsible for making the decision to either own it or not.

9 WHAT ARE YOU PRUNING TOWARD?
What does your desired outcome consist of? What is your standard of measurement to know when you reached it? Is there an alternative? Personal Professional Image

10 PRUNING – TO CUT AWAY Necessary, natural and beneficial for anything that is alive, or developmental in relationships and in business. Growth Depends on getting rid of the unwanted, unnecessary or the superficial. Without pruning – endings- you will not get the best.

11 THE PROCESS Proactive endings vs. Reactive Endings
Intentional and on purpose cuts of branches and buds that fall into 3 categories. HEALTHY SICK DEAD Proactive adjective (of a person, policy, or action) creating or controlling a situation by causing something to happen rather than responding to it after it has happened. Reactive adjective adjective: reactive acting in response to a situation rather than creating or controlling it.

12 THE STRATEGY It’s directional and forward looking.
It’s intentional towards vision, desires and objectives. Has been clearly defined and is measureable.

13 HEALTHY HEALTHY BUT NOT THE BEST FOLLOW UP AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Plants produce more buds – ideas – than the plant can sustain. In order for the plant to thrive, automatically a certain number has to go. FOLLOW UP AND ACCOUNTABILITY Is important for diverting and redistributing resources. TOUGH FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE Causes them to lose focus, they create more than they have capacity to sustain, and suffer trying to keep them all alive. More expectations than agreements. May be good but using more resources than necessary. Choose between good and the best use of resources especially when limited. The caretaker constantly examines and evaluates the plant to see which buds are worthy of the limited fuel and support, the rest are cut away.

14 SICK OR DISEASED Needs to be monitored, fertilized and nurtured, and otherwise to make them healthy. You must determine the standard of how much time, resources and energy it will take to see recovery, and be accountable to that standard. Not going to recover, needs to go. When plants are sick and diseased, they were created in a way that allows them to heal themselves and automatically will divert resources to the damaged area to repair the plant. This leaves the healthy portion of the plant venerable to sickness and disease, this is why the cutting away is necessary. Learning to properly cut away is crucial, you can kill the plant that you are trying to save, if you have not studied the art of cutting away. Knowing your plant or ideas involve relationships.

15 DEAD Using resources, energy and time with no benefit to the desired outcome. Is death the final ending? Death is necessary and beneficial to the next generation if treated right.

16 NAMING – DEFINING THE STANDARD OR GOAL YOU ARE PRUNING TOWARD.
STEP 1 NAMING – DEFINING THE STANDARD OR GOAL YOU ARE PRUNING TOWARD. No right answer, No two are the same. Without naming you will not know where to begin to bring about the necessary endings. You can not prune toward anything if you don’t know what your standards are going to be. Pruning will cause conflict. Understanding conflict resolution techniques and learn new skills. How will you define success and how will you measure it? This definition and standard will bring you to pruning moments, wherein you will wither own the vision or you don’t.

17 VISION BOARD EXERCISE Vison boards help you define and get clear about what you desire for yourself.   They help you make your dreams or goals more tangible and solid.   You form an energetic bond with what you really, really desire.   Vision boards can act as a guiding light or a North Star – helping you realize and commit to your vision.   They are fun and creative to do, however they are very powerful magnetization and manifestation tool. ACTING AS LITTLE ENERGY VORTEXS IF YOU WILL – THAT TELL YOUR SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND WHAT TO GO OUT AND BRING TO YOU.  LIKE AN ORDER FORM TO THE UNIVERSE (OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT).is

18 WHY VISION BOARDING? Images of who you want to become
The concept is : When you surround yourself with: Images of who you want to become What you want to have Where you want to live. Your life changes to match those images and those desires.

19 A word from Dr. Henry Cloud
It’s all small

20 NOW THAT YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED AREAS THAT DESERVE MORE FOCUS.
What are you willing to be held accountable for. How can you express your need of accountability in certain areas. (permission for you to check me) What behaviors do you need to change to reach your desired outcome.

21 IN CONCLUSION Seeing is believing.
I hope this will help you on your journey of Emerging Leadership. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK. Put your vision board someplace that you will see it everyday, I encourage you to add to it during these next few weeks, things that you will come across that is part of this planning stage for your future.
