How do you know what type of writing you are supposed to produce?
As a reader, how can you recognize what the author’s purpose is?
Always keep in mind, as a writer you MUST think as a reader.

3. Let's look at the different kinds of paragraphs…
Narrative paragraphs tell stories.
Persuasive paragraphs are made to argue a point. The author wants to convince the reader of something.
Expository paragraphs are informative. The author wants the reader to learn something, but they are not meant to be biased.
On the left side of your notebook… Where would you expect to find these different types of paragraphs?
