Road safety is a major priority for Total, which aims to be recognized as a benchmark for HSE. Road accidents remain a leading cause of serious accidents at Total. All accidents can be prevented, especially through shared vigilance. #SafeDriver, an awareness campaign focusing on six topics identified by analyzing accidents over the past few years. How you can prevent fatigue
1 in 5 severe accidents is caused by driver fatigue (Group-wide) The risk of an accident is tripled if a driver sleeps less than five hours the night before Breaks to prevent accidents Fatigue reduces alertness and slows response times. To prevent accidents, pay attention to the signs of fatigue: stiff neck, aches and pains, burning eyes, heavy eyelids and the need to shift your position frequently. Comply with the driving and break times set by regulations or Total. Always take a break at the first signs of fatigue. A minimum 10-minute break after two hours of continuous driving. A maximum of 7 hours of driving time per day. A minimum 30-minute break after no more than four-and-a-half hours of continuous driving. A maximum of 10 hours of driving time per day. Why you should not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
A blood alcohol level of over 0.5 g per liter of blood significantly increases the probability of a road accident Alcohol is a factor in one- third of fatal road accidents The rule: drive sober Driving under the influence of alcohol, medication or drugs slows reaction time, impairs concentration and coordination, and reduces your field of vision. Driving under the influence of alcohol, medication or drugs is prohibited by Total.
