3
What our Design Intended to Address
Provide a modification of current methods Put waste out of human contact Neutralize the fecal waste for safety
4
Design Components Gas Exhaust Scent control
Prevent dissolution of gasses to kill bacteria Concrete Toilet Seat and Bowl Stable Water Resistant Longevity Fluid Outflow Pressure from the fluid within the tank will passively leach into the surrounding soil. Tank Contain waste without overflow, this is buried underground Design Components
5
Product Components Gas Exhaust
Carbon filtration handled the scent issues, however there were concerns of replacement options. Concrete Toilet Seat and Bowl Concrete molding process needs refinement, coating proved to be a viable solution to keeping the material clean. Fluid Outflow Design was changed to address Pascal’s Law. Potential for another bend to prevent gravitational clogs. Tank Material strength handled the necessary mass of fluid expected. Product Components
6
Previous Test Results Confirmation that
Waterproofing concrete is possible The tank will not fill over half full given any intake of fluid volume It is possible to induce bacterial metabolization underground
7
Testing Stage 2 Goals: Create a version of product above ground
Mold our seat in actual size and coat it Test the wear resistance of the coating Determine that the waste will be processed before release into the environment
8
Frame build
9
Concrete Molding Issues
Concrete Particle size must be small Needs higher moisture content during cure Silicon or Plasticine mold to create smooth surface Crumbling results in premature wear on coating
10
Waste Processing Within Tank
11
Issues Raised This solution seems very simple, does that inherently mean it has an invisible flaw? Why is this better than just a septic tank? What sets this apart from an average septic tank? Is this truly viable? Robin
