2 Today I am going to give you an insight on the Nullarbor Plain.
I am going to talk about Native animals such as the Osprey, Peregrine Falcon, White-Bellied Sea Eagle and much more.

3 The Nullarbor Plain is a flat, arid-semi almost treeless area in Southern Australia.
It is 1,100 Kilometres stretching right from South Australia to the West of Australia. It occupies approximately 200,000 square kilometres in distance. It runs along the Great Australian Bight which is located between South Australia and Western Australia. A long time ago the Nullarbor plain was just a shallow Sea nowadays it is the largest piece of limestone. There are many Subterranean ( Underground Caves ) made from weathering rock.

4 Here are a list of what animals I have researched on that are native to the Nullarbor Plain and some facts about them.

5 An Osprey is a Bird that is Native to the Nullarbor plain.
An Osprey has gripping pads so it can help them pluck fish from the water and take them great distances to eat. Osprey’s live in the wild for approximately 30 years. An Osprey lays it’s nest in the upper fork of a tree so it can get a good enough view of the surroundings so if their prey come near they can see them and evacuate immediately. Osprey’s eat fish which takes up 99 per cent of their diet and that is a way they can survive.

6 The Peregrine Falcon sights prey from up high in the skies.
When they dive to capture their prey they can reach a speed of approximately 300 kilometres per hour. When two to three eggs are laid the baby Falcons stay in the nest for days and then they can leave the mother’s nest to hunt for food.

7 A White-Bellied Sea Eagle weighs approximately 1. 8 to 3 kilograms
A White-Bellied Sea Eagle weighs approximately 1.8 to 3 kilograms . A male’s wingspan is around 1.78 to 2.2 metres and a Female’s wingspan is approximately 2.5 to 4.5 metres. In flight the black feathers on the wings are easily seen when the bird is viewed from below, and they soar holding their wings in a 'V' shape when diving for food.

8 Their habitats are usually in Rainforests and Deserts,
they can mainly be found in Australia and Papua New Guinea because that is where they live and they are hard to find.

9 A Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat’s head is 77 to 94 centimetres long.
In the daytime they are digging in their burrows and at night they come out to Hunt. They are Nocturnal animals which means that they only do things during the night in the dark.

10 The terrain on the Nullarbor Plain is flat,
and there are a lot of low growing plants and shrubs. It is also very dry and dusty.

11 There are definitely no disasters except there is just too much sun in the Nullarbor Plain and it is way too hot because the Temperature at daytime can rise up to 45.8 degrees celsius and at night it may fall below Zero. The Temperature is really, really humid in the Desert.

12 Thank you for watching this presentation.
I hope you got some interesting facts that you didn’t know and I hope that I’ve made you want to go and discover the Nullarbor Plain for yourself one day.
