Common metric conversion Rules of Bearings Measure from North Measure clockwise All bearing have 3 digits e.g. a bearing of 45° is written as 045 Measuring Bearings Ways to remember what unit is a length, weight or capacity…. Key word definitions Metric units - A system of measurement in which the basic units are the meter, the second, and the kilogram. Imperial Units A system of weights and measures originally developed in England. Bearing A bearing measures the movement of an angle in a clockwise direction and always on the north line. Speed – the rate at which something moves Density – the compactness of a substance Mass – a measure of how much matter is in an object Volume – the amount of space inside a 3D shape Pressure – an expression of force exerted on a given surface area Force – is a push or pull on an object Area – the space of space inside a 2D shape
