4. VET CENTER HISTORY
1979: VA established outreach centers for Vietnam Veterans and their families out of the recognition that a significant number of Vietnam era Vets were still experiencing readjustment problems.
Services extended to all war zone Veterans, sexual harassment/assault victims of any era, drone pilots, first responders, mortuary services, family members of deployed military personnel, and bereavement services.
All services are 100% free and confidential!
Currently we have over 300 locations nationwide, including Alaska and Hawaii.

The Mobile Vet Centers (MVCs) of the Department of Veterans Affairs provide readjustment counseling and information resources to Veterans across the country. Like community-based Vet Centers, Mobile Vet Centers focus on services that help Veterans make the difficult transition between military and civilian life.
