2 INTRODUCTION Started at college 10 years ago after 10 years experience in manufacturing Setup the WTTC in 2012 – first and only of its kind Wales Worked alongside Innogy Renewables UK to develop the course content and structure Mark McDonough Wind Turbine O&M Trainer and Assessor Grŵp Llandrillo Menai

3 LEARNERS’ NEEDS Varied use of assessment methods
Paper based portfolio or e-portfolio? Flexibility in meeting learner’s where every they may be working Keep in contact between reviews Create a ‘real working environment’ at college Practical tasks brought in from industry Assessment methods to suit learners requirements, environment working in and any commercial sensitivity. Use of ICT – e-portfolio, apps for recording evidence, video and photographic evidence Offer both e-portfolio and paper based portfolios depending on learners preference and access to ICT Prepared to travel to meet leaners working across the UK Learners are able to contact me via or telephone in between reviews to answer any questions they may have Have a real working environment at college form a proper working ethos, having industry specific recourses/equipment to work with and following procedures form the industry Practical tasks brought in form the industry such as obtaining plant equipment for them to work on, projects for them work on and community projects

4 EMPLOYERS’ NEEDS Develop close working relationship with employers
Arrange industrial placements to work on site to keep up to date with current working procedures and technology Ensure own training is current Ensure learner’s progress is communicated to the employer Be flexible to ensure the qualification content meets the employers/industry needs Delivery of additional qualifications and/or units to meet the employers needs Work closely with the employers, ensuring they have an input on what is been delivered at the college and how assessment takes place in the work place I have days working along the Wind Turbine Technician's to gain first hand experience of maintaining the plant and working to industry procedures which I can then bring back to the college to further create a RWE Have ensured my own training is current and relevant such as technical training, safety training etc 6-8 weekly WB reviews and end of term reports are communicated to the employer Flexibility in delivering industry specific content to the learner's Deliver additional units/quals to ensure the learners have all the correct skills and knowledge for their job
