The Moon Expectations: D2.1, D2.5, D3.5
2
The Moon Earth’s natural satellite.
The moon rotates on its axis and revolves around Earth in the same amount of time, therefore we only ever see one side of the moon. (about a month) The moon is held in orbit by the gravitational force the same as the planets around the sun.
3
Moon Facts No atmosphere, therefore very hot or cold depending on the position with the Sun. Gravity on the moon is 1/6 of Earth’s. The moon is illuminated by the Sun. The light or dark always moves right to left. Why do we see phases of the moon??

Moon Phases –Lunar Cycle

Explanation of Moon Phases

Tides Tides are due to the Moon’s gravitational pull on Earth and it’s oceans. As Earth is pulled toward the Moon, a bulge of water also forms on both sides of Earth (high tide), other sides will be low tide. There are two high and low tides each day. The time between high and low tide is about six hours. The Sun also affects tides but not as much, when the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned it causes spring tides (high tides), when perpendicular- neap tides (weaker)
